UAME Church, 2013

The United African Methodist Episcopal Church or UAME Church, now located on Forester next to the Shingle House, was actually erected by its parishioners and patrons in 1906 on McEwen Street. In 2007, the UAME church was moved to its present site on Forester Avenue. The Society plans to restore this historic house of worship to an African-American exhibit that can transform into a general gallery for cultural events.

The present present UAME Congregation continues to grow in a new building on the original site of the historic church (98 McEwen St. in Warwick). Website is http://www.unionamechurch.org and contact information is revkttaylor@unionamechurch.org.
