“Warwick in History” – On this date in 1775 the assessment roll of 1775 shows several names still prominent in the Warwick area including Wisner, Edsall, Benedict, Wood, Sayre, Wheeler, Seeley, Sanford, Van Duzer, Schofield, Knapp, Baird, Decker, Welling, Howell, Todd, Demarest, Larue, Feagles, Raynor, Miller, Sutton, Ferguson, Wright, Stratton, Carr, Beers and Roe. Assessor at this time was John Hathorn. Capt. Hathorn was in command of the Warwick Company of Militia and later became Colonial of the Warwick Regiment and in this capacity commanded in the Battle of Minisink.
