Cost of Property for New School – $1000 – May, 1900

“Warwick in History” – On May 11, 1900, there was a special meeting of the Warwick Board of Education regarding the purchase of property for a new school. 

On May 29 the property of F. Campbell, located west of Oakland Avenue on a new street running parallel to it, was bought. This street was later named Welling Avenue. the cost of the property was $1,000.

A motion was passed at the special meeting giving permission to raise taxes in the district for the new school not in excess of $25,000.
