Warwick History Summer Camp – August 4 to 8, 2014, 9:00 am – 12:00 pm

Become a history detective this summer by joining “Hands on History” at the Warwick Historical Society.

The program, open to students age 11 to 13, will be held daily at several sites in the Village of Warwick. Participants will uncover what happened in the Warwick area in early days. They will explore historical sites all over the village and they will learn how to interpret photos, maps and documents from the past. Young detectives will discover how businesses, churches and railroads started in Warwick. They will access databases to expand their searches for Warwick’s historic secrets.

In addition to Hands on History, the Historical Society is again holding the popular “Warwick History Summer Camp, open to students ages 8 to 10. In this program summer campers experience real life in Warwick in days-gone-by at several famous local sites. They will reenact the lives of a tavern keeper’s family at Baird’s Tavern, a farm family at the Hasbrouck Barn, Warwick Civil War soldiers at Lewis Park, a craftsman’s family at Baird’s Tavern grounds and a pastor’s family at the Old School Baptist Meeting House. They will explore archaeology, learn crafts and camping skills and experience traditional stories, food and games.
