Baird's Tavern
Although Baird's Tavern was built in 1766, this year the Main Room will feature an elegant "Dinner at the Tavern, circa 1906." An extraordinary addition to the Tavern this year is a painting on display by Jasper Francis Cropsey who lived in Warwick from 1866 - 1884. Entitled "Mount Adam and Eve - Haymaking", this oil on canvas is a wonderful example of the work by Cropsey and other 19th Century artists who painted glorious landscapes of the Hudson Valley. We are delighted that a Warwick collector and dealer has loaned us the painting for Harvest to Holly.

The 1810 House by Lewis Park
When you see this charming, early 1800's cottage standing in all its beauty on Main Street opposite the Village Hall, you would never guess what a busy life it has led and the many families who lived there. Thus it is fitting that this year's theme for the house is "A Children's Christmas in the Early Victorian Times". The Hoyt Parlor will feature an early Victorian doll collection organized by Zoila Savale, Vice President of the Hudson Valley Doll Club. The Frank Forester Room, named in honor of the famous sportsman of the mid 1800's, will have a display of antique "Toys for Boys" provided the Hudson Valley Doll Club.
→ Decorators ~ Silvio Galterio & Emily Austin
→ WVHS History Club students will staff a children's activity area.

1810 Herb Wheel Garden
Designed for fragrance and contrast of textures, the garden is an authentic copy of an herb garden in the period of the house. It has been maintained since 1957 by the members of the Orange and Dutchess Garden Club. The Society appreciates the many, many hours of dedicated gardening by the Club members through the years.

Lewis Park
It is hard to imagine that once old houses and a car lot were located on the Lewis Park property. Fortunately the Lewis family saw the need to create a park and to give to the church atop the knoll a more beautiful setting, and so they purchased the property and created that glorious green space in the center of the village. And thus this year Lewis Park will be festively decorated in a traditional Christmas theme featuring luminary candle pathways with the elegantly decorated picket fence and lamppost.

Old School Baptist Meeting House
Built on what was then called a "sightly knoll in the village", this beautiful house of worship was placed right in the middle of Warwick, and wherever you are in the community, you can see its lovely steeple pointing skyward. Once again, we are fortunate to have many talented local residents provide the musical entertainment fitting for this elegant building that features a carved golden dove with an olive branch in its beak poised way above the beautiful wine-glass pulpit.

→ Decorators ~ Mark and Sandy Kurtz of Grammy's Garden and Maureen Charde of High Meadow Farms

Ketchum House
Azariah Ketchum who fought in the Revolutionary War, proudly built his "little house" in 1810 which has a floor plan similar to the typical Manhattan brownstone. It has two rooms (one over the other) plus a hall, an attic, and a cellar. It features high ceilings, elaborate mantles, an elegant main doorway, and a graceful stairway that is continuous to the attic. It was really very 'citified' and `new fangled' for Warwick in 1810! There is no other example of the Federal period in the village, and perhaps the entire town of Warwick.
→ Decorators ~ Michael Bertolini and Bill Bartsch

Wyndhurst on Maple Avenue ~ The Madison Lewis Home
The Historical Society is deeply grateful to the Madison Lewis family for generously allowing the stately 10-bedroom house their family has owned for generations to be used as part of Harvest to Holly Tour. The scene of innumerable parties since the last century, it is fitting that this most elegant home will be decorated for a family dinner party set in the 1930s. The docents will be wearing period frocks from the private collection of Mrs. Madison Lewis.
→ Decorator ~ Marina Alario, The Red Shutters
